1. Smarter Balance Assessment:
State testing continues for grades 3-5 utilizing the computer lab and iPads. Fifth grade will begin testing on Monday, April 27 from 8:00 am to 10:10 pm. We need to support fifth grade by minimizing distractions, making the testing devices available to them, and sending and wishing them good testing thoughts. Please work around their testing schedule when signing up for the computer lab or iPads. Thanks for being flexible. I know their hard work and efforts will pay off. Good luck, 5th grade!
Retention and promotion (TK) referrals MUST be turned in by Thursday, April 30. Please make sure to have all sections of the referrals filled in. Teachers and parents will be invited to the Retention/Promotion Meeting scheduled for May 14.
3. Math Training:
A one-day training is being offered between June 8-26 for teachers to learn how the new math textbook resources will support instruction in a CCSS classroom. Training sites will be located in ESC areas. Registration will be available soon on Learning Zone (key words “Summer 2015 Elementary Math). Additional trainings for Technology can be found on the Learning Zone as well
4. 2015-16 Matrix:
The matrix has been posted in the main office and preference forms have been boxed. Please complete the preference form and turn them in by Friday, May 1. As indicated in the tentative matrix, we have decreased teaching positions in K-3 by one less teacher. Therefore, we will have to displace a teacher. Teachers may voluntarily displace themselves and be assured of a position elsewhere in the district. Also, teachers may also request a Teacher Initiated Transfer. Please see Mr. Martinez if you have any questions. The matrix will be completed on Thursday, May 7.
BUCKET FILLERS: Big Thanks to the following. . .
Thank you teachers for the great Spring Concert Performances. Thank you, music teachers, Mr. Garcia, Ms. Ham, Ms. Brown, Mr. Harris, and Ms. Kovnat with Little Kids Rock for their efforts.
Thank you, fourth grade teachers for all your hard work in completing SBAC testing.
Thank you, Ms. Arriaga, for arranging Chuck E. Cheese Night.
ELD Instruction should be 45-60 minutes daily depending on ELD levels.
All attendance notes need to be cleared timely. If you are not able to clear an absence because three days have past then please send up the notice to the office to clearitimmediately. Whenyou hold on to them and send them up in bulk it takes too much time for office staff to complete and keep updated. Send them up as you get them. Thanks!
